2010 Fiction Program (2010)

The 2010 YAWP Fiction program took place in the Southampton Intermediate School for three weeks during March and April of 2010, and encompassed the all 106 students in the 8th grade.

Lead Teaching Artist Heather Macadam worked in conjunction with teaching assistants Matthew Miranda and Michael LoCurto, with a curriculum that encompassed conflict, character, theme and voice.  Students were challenged to write paired dialogue confronting conflict, and to realize truthful, in depth characters inspired by photographs and other writing prompts.

Three student-written pieces were presented during the “Sounding Our YAWP” Event on April 17, as part of the Spring Performance Festival at Avram Theatre, Stony Brook Southampton. Additional pieces were also selected for publication in this Ezine.
